Thirteen.

We're down to 13 days. In related news, my house is a minefield of boxes and bubble wrap. Please do not come over. Or, actually, please do. I will put you to work.

The Mindful Grey paint is done and I love it MORE than the khaki. I'm so pleased with my paint choices that I actually pinched my own cheeks and then  high fived myself. Below is a crappy picture, but whatevs. It's fabulous.

And because his ridiculous face hasn't been on this blog nearly enough lately, here's my sweet Alex doing what he does best...lazily playing on the floor with his 32,189,032,189,032,189,012 Cars characters. No surprise, we were having movie night and watching Cars 2 at the time.

And, technically, since that's not his face, here's one hiding in his closet at "the different house." THIRTEEN DAYS, PEOPLE.

Why being a Mom is awesome.

If I wrote a list, it would probably be eleventy trillion items long, so I will share today's awesomesauce in pictorial form.

Please note that this photo doesn't include the 4 Cars that will be in his
Easter Basket or the entire mini collection I just scored on ebay for $2.

The fact that I can name EACH of these Cars characters (from movies 1&2, thankyouverymuch) without so much as skipping a beat is both something I never thought I would say, and something I am also so proud to say. Alex loves him some Cars characters--and we've had so much fun scouring every store in every city we've been in over the last 2 months to find new ones. I've spent more hours than I care to admit on ebay, looking for the gems that you can't find in stores anymore.

But the time I cherish most is the 30 minutes (or more) every night that we spend playing Cars. We drive them around in circles around the house and take them on adventures in the backyard. They are frequent guests at dinnertime, and 2 of them get selected every night to get tucked into bed with him. They're part of our family, in a weird little way.

It's kind of stupid how much I love these little Cars. And if I'm honest with myself, it's not the actual Cars I love. It's the adventures we take them on and the time we spend together hunting for them. It's the memories we're creating. I know all too soon, the Cars will be collecting dust in a box in the closet and there will be a REAL car in the driveway he likes better.

That got depressing quickly, didn't it?

Anyway, I forget what my original point was...because in my head this was a really funny post about how I can name every Cars character in my sleep. Yesyesyes. That was it. And that, my friends, is why being a Mom is awesome.

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I also hate liars, coconut (the food, not the lotion), cats and hangnails.

But moving on...

I went to the North American International Auto Show today, because let's face it, why not? Oh, and probably because it pays the bills... Anyway, I saw this:

WANT. For obvious reasons.

Also? Our dear friends Sarah and Jason were in town last night and we got together for dinner at Rochester Mills Brewery. In the section adjacent to our table there was a speed dating event happening. Oh em gee. It was like watching a car accident in drunk, sloppy, awkward slow motion. So very, very wrong but I couldn't look away. Speed dating. What an atrocity.

Additionally, Sarah crafted me THE MOST AMAZING birthday present, EVER. It's quite possibly the most brilliant accessory I've ever owned. Sparkles. Flowers. Ruffles. (!!!!!!) Pictures tomorrow, promise.

Friday Fun.

Life required a triple shot in the latte this a.m., which still didn't do the trick. Exhaustion. Snooze.

In other news, I saw an anomaly in a parking lot yesterday and thought I would share my 'fusion on Facebook. My status rattled on something like "I don't understand why anyone would by a Mercedes station wagon. Kinda defeats the purpose, no?" And boy oy boy, I felt the HEAT!

It would appear that most people think crossovers and station wagons are the same thing. Which is WRONG. Exhibit A:

Crossover.

Wagon.

One is clearly cooler than the other, right? Whatever. My original point on the Book of Face was simply that if someone is forking out the cashola for a Benz, why not at least get something sweet like this:

Because that would haul the family to Disney, right?

Just my 29¢. Take it or leave it.
