Oscar thoughts.

Anne ruled. James sucked.

As such, Justin Timberlake should have totally co-hosted.

Also, I need to start watching moofies more often. I think I've only seen maybe 3 of the nominees!

Hallmark holiday, schmallmark holiday.

As you know, our Valentine's Day was a bit of a cluster when all was said and done. We had very romantic plans to go to Costco on Monday night and relax with a pizza and a 6 pack of IPA after Alex went to bed (I know...the romance is still alive after alllll these years!), but that plan was thwarted by the arrival of my wittle mister Sam-e-oh.

And so, when I got home from my whirlwind adventures to CT, Joey presented me with my Valentine's Day gift. It was a small piece of paper that read the following:

Dear Honey Bunny,
First, forgive me for typing this note of love.  I would have liked to have written it by hand, but because I would also like you to be able to read it, typing became my only option.  So, on this Valentine’s Day circa Feb 14th 2011, I would like to share with you some silly and some heartfelt thoughts.
PS. if you read closely , you will discover a perfect valentines gift for my perfect wife.

Kristi, I love you more than these typed words (clues) can ever express.
Yours forever and always,
Joey

P.S.S. One last clue, in case you haven’t figured it out yet… you are my small town girl and I am your city boy.
I was able to figure out that they were all Glee songs, but couldn't get the rest of the way on my own. After a little more hinting, Joey revealed that we are going to see Glee on tour this summer!

*I fall over dead.*

Happiness, sparkles & confetti do not even come close to how awesome this gift is. PINK PUFFY HEARTS. I have the best husband. And not just because he knows that buying me tickets to see Glee on tour is the most brilliant idea, ever, but because he's been the rock of this family for the last month or so. I've needed to lean on him more than ever (Grandpa, Sam-e-oh, work, etc.) and not once has he complained about having to pick up my slack. Thank you, babe. You are extra medium. :)

Baby Sam-e-oh.

I am home safe and sound - but leaving Kelli, David and baby Samuel was quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. I kept it together until I got to the airport and then morphed into a hot mess. Let's just say people were staring.

But back to happy things...Alex saying "Samuel" sounds like "Sam-e-oh" and it's basically the cutest thing, ever. He says, "I yuv you baby Sam-e-oh" and then I am just a puddle on the floor.

Here are some web proofs of baby Sam-e-oh's first professional photography shoot. He's a dream for the camera, just like his Momma. Warning: your uterus might catch on fire from looking at these pics.

I KNOW, RIGHT?!?! I can't even stand it. And just for fun, let's test just how strong those Talicska genes are, shall we?

Niephew is a NEPHEW!

It's a BOY!

Samuel Jeffrey Turner was born at 4:15 am on Feb. 13 @ 8 oz. 10 lbs & 20 in. via c-section after THIRTY HOURS and FORTY FIVE minutes of labor. My sister is a saint.

He's perfect and precious and I simply could not love him more.

And also? Alex totally got it right:

Sorry it's sideways. FB won't let me rotate it for some reason.

NIEPHEW WATCH: DAY 5.

Still no baby. Oye.

I didn't vom in the hospital, though I did get that tingly feeling in my cheeks - you know, when your saliva starts to go crazy and you know you're seconds from vomming but you just have to hold it in because seriously everyone on the floor is actually like life threateningly sick and for me to vom would just be confirmation that I am a wuss and people would laugh, point and stare? Yeah, that.

Winding down the day with some afternoon wine with the Momma. I did it mostly to get her to sleep, because she hasn't done that in like, oh, 17 days. It worked.

NIEPHEW WATCH: DAY 4.

Stiiiilllll no baby. In fact, Kelli had a Dr. appointment yesterday and was told "no bueno" on any progress whatsoever. Well, I'm sure they used more appropriate medical terms, but you get it.

Actually, I think Niephew is already wise beyond his/her months. You see, Momma has a bit of the yuck right now, so I think (s)he's waiting until Kelli is 100% to make the grand entrance.

And only because it rains when it pours when my family is involved, my Grandfather (Mom's Dad) has taken one step forward and 432,678 steps back in terms of his health. I'm actually taking tomorrow off work to go home to see/be with him. As a general rule, I don't "do" hospitals (unless for the happy occasion of births) mostly because I find them to be smelly, cold, dark and quite frankly, the biggest Debbie Downer of all time. So, please give a little shout out in your prayers today that 1) Gramps will start to make progress and begin to heal; 2) I don't vomit whilst in the hospital visiting him; 3) Baby Niephew continues to wait patiently for both Mommy and Great Gramps to get better; 4) Alex doesn't try to eat the hand sanitizer at the hospital. I'm sure at some point he will also attempt to use the urine tray as a toy, but we'll burn that bridge when we get there.

Thanks, peeps.

NIEPHEW WATCH: DAY 3.

Still no baby. Still twiddling.

Let's pass the time today with something else I do when I'm impatient...cooking!

Last night I made a recipe shared by a coworker, called "Sour Cream Chicken." Since you marinate it overnight, it's easy-peasy to make. & it was YUM! Alex the little piggy even ate an entire chicken breast. (Note: I halved the recipe.)

Ingredients:
6 chicken breasts
2 cups sour cream
1/4 cup lemon juice
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
4 teaspoons celery salt
2 teaspoons paprika
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
4 teaspoons kosher salt (Next time I would omit the salt - the Worcestershire & celery salt are enough.)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 3/4 cups dry breadcrumbs
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup olive oil

Directions:
1. Cut chicken breasts in half and wipe dry with a paper towel.
2. In a large bowl, combine sour cream with lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, paprika, garlic, salt and pepper.
3. Add the chicken to the sour cream mixture, coating each piece well.
4. Cover in the refrigerator overnight or at least one hour. I marinated them overnight.
5. Preheat over to 350°F.
6. Remove chicken and roll in the bread crumbs.
7. Arrange in a single layer in a shallow baking dish.
8. Melt butter and oil.
9. Spoon half over the chicken.
10. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
11. Remove from over and spoon the rest of the butter mixture over the chicken.
12. Bake for another 10-15 minutes or until tender and brown.
13. Serve & enjoy!

Oh, and if anyone out there wants to save some dollars on flowers for your sweetie for Valentine's Day *cough*Joey*cough* today's "online deal" from Groupon Detroit is $20 for $40 from FTD.com. You don't have to be a Detroiter to use it! Click here to check it out...

NIEPHEW WATCH: DAY 2.

Still nothing. Still waiting. Still twiddling.

To pass the time, let's partake in an activity that I do when I'm nervous, shall we? Listmaking!

Things that suck:
  • Tube socks. I prefer anklets.
  • Christina Aguilera's memory.
  • Winter paleness. I seriously could be in the cast of Twilight right about now.

Things that are awesome:
  • "Imported from Detroit" Chrysler commercial.
  • Mascara.
  • 7-11 nachos. Which I had for dinner last night. Mom of the Year, right here.
  • Giveaways.

NIEPHEW WATCH: 2011

Oh, hai there. How is everyone doing today? Mmm hmmm. Ok. Everyone good? Good.

WELL THEN.

Let's cut to the meat and potatoes of today's topic, shall we? Today marks ONE WEEK from Niephew's due date. And if Niephew is anything like his/her cousin Alex, TODAY is the day. But, since I haven't received a text or phone call alerting me otherwise, I'll just continue to wait very impatiently. Le sigh.

Twiddles thumbs.

While we wait, why not have a giveaway?

Throws confetti.

The fine peeps over at CSN stores are sending their love to ABM3 readers yet again. And as if I haven't raved about their product offerings again and again...they have everything from backyard swing sets to cutlery. Yes, cutlery. I think it's a fun word. Seriously. Say it like 10 times fast. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery. Cutlery.

In honor of my precious Niephew's pending arrival, one lucky ABM3 reader will win $55 to use on ANYTHING from csnstores.com. Yippee!

To enter: 1) You must be a public follower. 2) Leave a comment here predicting Niephew's gender and birthday. Cinchy!

The winner will be selected using random.org on Niephew's due date, Feb. 14.

Thanks.

Due to the chaos that has been my life lately, I haven't been able to have as much of my "me" time that I'm so lovingly used to. You know, those precious 10 minutes a day where you can be totally, indulgently selfish? Yeah, that.

So this morning on my drive into work, I took the time to give thanks. I turned the radio down and relished in the silence of the moment, thankful for everything I have, everything I am able to do. Thankful for a loving husband that picks up the slack when I suck at life. Thankful for an insanely adorable kid that squeals when I walk through the door at night and wants to play "twucks" with his Momma. Thankful for a family that gets me....like really gets me. Thankful for hot tea in the morning with a dollup of honey to ease this achy throat. Thankful for a Niephew that will arrive any day now. Thankful for the internet, for obvious reasons. Thankful for this beautiful, crazy, chaotic life that is mine.

And then this afternoon, I came across this interesting artice on MSN: 5 Habits of Happy Families. I'm not a super nerdy reader and I certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but when I find nuggets that are worth sharing, I share. Take it for what it's worth.

Knee deep.

I'm up to my armpits over here! Literally with Snomageddon 2011 and figuratively with life/work shenanigans. In fact, I had to stay at a hotel close to work on Tuesday night to ensure that I could be at the office on Wednesday. Props to Joe for being superdad this week...

The blog will likely be intensely boring until sometime next week when I will officially launch NIEPHEW WATCH: 2011. He or she will be arriving any day now...Monday marks one week before Kelli's due date, which is exactly when I delivered Alex. As soon as I get the call I'm on the first plane outta here!!! C'MON, NIEPHEW!!!!
